Terms & Conditions
The basis on which we quote, contract and build.
1. About these terms
These terms explain how Harbour Grove Landscaping of 14 Lower Westford, Wellington, Somerset quotes for and carries out work. They sit alongside the written contract you sign for your specific job. Where the signed contract and these terms differ, the signed contract applies.
2. Quotes and site visits
Site visits and quotes are free. Quotes are itemised element by element and are usually issued within a week of the visit; larger schemes can take longer while we wait on supplier pricing. A quote is valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise on the document itself. Guide prices shown on this website - patios at £130–£180 per m² and 6ft feather edge fencing at around £100 per m² - are indicative only and are confirmed after a site visit.
3. Acceptance and contract
Work begins only once a written contract has been signed by both parties. The contract sets out the scope, the materials, the price and the expected timescale. Anything not listed in the contract is not included in the price.
4. Payment
Payment is by bank transfer. On standard jobs we take a 50% deposit before work starts, with the balance due on completion. Projects over £25,000 are structured differently and the payment stages are agreed with you in advance and recorded in the contract.
5. Variations
If you ask for changes once work is under way, or if ground conditions turn out to be materially different from what could reasonably be seen at the site visit; we will price the variation and agree it with you in writing before carrying it out.
6. Access, services and site conditions
You agree to provide safe access to the working area and to tell us about anything buried on site that we could not reasonably know about, drains, cables, pipes, septic tanks, soakaways. We take reasonable care, but we cannot accept responsibility for damage to unmarked services we were not told about.
7. Timescales
We give realistic dates and work to them. Weather, ground conditions and supplier lead times can move a programme; where they do, we will tell you as soon as we know.
8. Materials
Natural stone, timber and aggregates vary in colour, texture and grain between batches, and can weather and settle over time. Samples and photographs are indicative rather than exact. Manufacturer warranties on supplied products, where they exist, are passed to you.
9. Scope of our work
We work for private homeowners and do not currently take on commercial contracts. Larger stone walling is subcontracted to a mason we have worked with for years; we remain your point of contact for that work. We do not offer resin driveways.
10. Cancellation
Where the contract was agreed away from our business premises, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of signing. If you ask us to begin within that period and then cancel, we may charge for work already carried out and materials already ordered.
11. Complaints
If something is not right, tell us. Call 07340 000463 or email admin@harbour-grove.com and we will come and look at it. We would always rather put a problem right than argue about it.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute.
