About Harbour Grove
A family business that treats
your garden like its own
Harbour Grove Landscaping is run by James, who came to the trade the long way round, steel framing, groundworks and cladding, then a labouring job with a landscaping firm that turned into a career he genuinely loves. Six years on, he builds gardens across Somerset and Mid Devon with a standard of finish that most people only expect from a much larger firm.
He is not on his own. His dad joined the business after a decade running cladding sites, bringing more than thirty years of carpentry, joinery, roofing and general building experience with him. Add two more team members and there can be up to four skilled pairs of hands on your project, which is why jobs finish when we say they will.
The work is almost entirely for homeowners. That is deliberate. Private projects reward the things we care about: sharp edges, correct falls, planting that suits the setting, and a site swept clean at the end of every day. A strong love of the countryside runs through how we design and build.

Customer Reviews
What homeowners across Somerset
say about the finished job
“We are absolutely thrilled with the results of the work that James and his team undertook. Professional throughout, courteous, hard-working and outstanding workmanship. We highly recommend Harbour Grove and are so pleased with our much needed new patio and fencing. Thank you James (and fab team).”
“What a transformation! Harbour Grove did a super job of transforming an overgrown weedy area of garden into a lovely raised veg patch and gravel bin storage area separated by featherboard fencing. Very tidy and professional work carried out by this team, we would recommend them to anyone wanting any work done to their outside areas. Tidied up and cleaned down and we would never know they had been here!”
“First class from start to finish in the hottest of weather. These people worked full time, including the holiday Monday, to keep on time with our request. Excellent work, lovely finish, and no problems. If you are lucky enough to hire these people, look after them; they are well worth it.”
“The guys arrived when they said they would. Completed the job well within the given timescale, which was exceptional considering they worked right through the two hottest days ever. Professional in every aspect. Work carried out to a very high standard. Site kept clean and tidy throughout the duration of the works. Site left immaculate once the work had been completed. I cannot fault James and his team. I would highly recommend them.”
“From start to finish the work went smoothly. The site was always left neat and tidy and the finished job is excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending James and Harbour Grove.”
“When you employ James to work on your property it's like stepping back in time, by which I mean back to a time when tradespeople were courteous, conscientious, highly-skilled, communicative, tidy and most importantly, arrive when they say they're going to, something that three other fencing contractors had failed to do before I was lucky enough to discover James. James has carried out two jobs for me now, both to an extremely high standard. Can't recommend him highly enough.”
“We had our fencing done and we are very pleased. Good communication on what the options were and done when we wanted it done. Highly recommended.”
“Had a raised bed done. Was impressed with the quality and professional way James did the work. Highly recommended.”
